Church leadership shouldn't be by family inheritance where you raise your children to be next church leader or next ministry leader .

 

I know a prophetess that call his son who had never been part of the church ministry but because she was on sick bed , she called her son to come and take over the church leadership. 

 

Today, the church had been sold by the son . So how do we choose or appoint the next church leader ? Is it by voting ? By loyalty?

By appointing the most elderly person ? 

 

When we study the scripture in book of Numbers, God told Moses he will die . 

Moses didn't appoint his son as next leader nor any of his tribe or family member

 

How did Moses appoint the next leader ? 

Matthew 27:16-18

Moses said to the Lord, 16 “May the Lord, the God who gives breath to all living things, appoint someone over this community 17 to go out and come in before them, one who will lead them out and bring them in, so the Lord’s people will not be like sheep without a shepherd.”

18 So the Lord said to Moses, “Take Joshua son of Nun, a man in whom is the spirit of leadership,[a] and lay your hand on him.

 

Moses prayed to God and ask God to appoint someone over this people of Isreal.

Notice :

Moses had no name he gave or suggest 

Moses didn't tell Isreal to vote a new leader 

Moses didn't appoint any of his sons 

Moses didn't appoint any family member 

Moses didn't assume Joshua must be the one

 

Moses prayed and ask God to appoint 

Joshua had been loyal to Moses 

Joshua had been a true follower 

Joshua had been a good disciple 

 

Yet Moses never mention Joshua name to God

He asked God to appoint who He wants .

God told him to anoint Joshua as next leader .

 

Immediately, Moses introduced Joshua as the next leader and anoint him before the high priest and the congregation. 

 

Joshua didn't bribe his way to leadership 

It wasn't by how long Joshua had been there .

It wasn't because Joshua was a sponsorer.

It wasn't because of Money by God's Voice.

 

Moses announced the next leader before He died . True leadership raise true leaders.

You don't have to die before the next leader is appointed.

 

Voting for the next church leader is not the way of God . APPOINTING your son or daughter as the next leader is not the way of God .

 

You can raise your children in the way of God but don't raise them so they will be the next church leader after you. Raise them to follow God and be led by God wherever God wants to use them .

 

Moses gave Joshua leadership Authority before he die. It wasn't after his death that Joshua was trying to be able to lead the people. He had the authority to lead them even in the presence of Moses .

 

Leaders , seek the face of God who wants to be the next leader of the church or ministry. Don't assume it must be a loyal disciple 

Don't assume it must be your son .

Ask God to appoint His own leader .

 

Moses wasn't thinking about His name legacy

He was thinking about God's name .

If he was thinking about His name , he could have appoint his family member or son 

But He was more concerned about the name of the Lord .

 

This is the right way to appoint the next leader

Pray to God . Let God show you .

Give the person authority of leadership.

Don't be jealous of the person.

 

No man of God is forever here .

The work of God will continue.

Man of God come and go 

Be ready to raise the next leader .

Give room for next leader to grow .

Even if they're not your biological children.
