Moses pray to God to appoint the next leader for Isreal. He never appoint any of His own son or someone from His own tribe . Neither did Moses assume the Next leader based on Loyalty of Joshua but He prayed to God to choose His own leader . 

Numbers 27:15-20
15 Moses said to the Lord, 16 “May the Lord, the God who gives breath to all living things, appoint someone over this community 17 to go out and come in before them, one who will lead them out and bring them in, so the Lord’s people will not be like sheep without a shepherd.”
18 So the Lord said to Moses, “Take Joshua son of Nun, a man in whom is the spirit of leadership,[a] and lay your hand on him. 19 Have him stand before Eleazar the priest and the entire assembly and commission him in their presence. 20 Give him some of your authority so the whole Israelite community will obey him

A Leader should be able to anounce the next leader before departure. Moses anoint Joshua as the next leader before he depart. He declared Joshua before the whole Isreal as the next Leader and He had a good successor!

Church leaders need to make proper legal preparation for the next leader they will handover to after they're gone . Many churche building had been sold by founder's children because the founder didn't make proper preparation for next leader. 

Church property shouldn't be in your name but the name of the church. Make sure you have a lawyer with proper documentation. I have heared of founders children selling their Parent's church because the name on the property is their Family name so they have legal right on it . Some will even ask church to deliver monthly income into their account .

To avoid all these , a church leader needs to make proper legal documentation that will empower the next leader of the church. Let us learn to raise men and women as Moses raised Joshua so the vision God showed us will be carried to the future .

If you're given a piece Land  for church, make sure the giver makes proper documentation in the name of the church. If not, his children may claim the land after his death. We need to prepare for the future properly and legally.

Always know that, no man of God is permanent on earth. No woman of God is permanent here . Before you came , people have been doing the work of God and after you're gone the work of God will be done by others . Don't think you can do all the work of God . Raise men. Raise people that can do exactly the work of God and even more than you. 

Jesus came and He raised 12 disciples , they carry on the vision of Jesus after He went back to heaven. He announced them as the next Leader , especially Peter . He told him, Feed my sheep. There was no fight among disciples who the next leader will be , Jesus already appoint one .

Mark 3:13-19
13 Jesus went up a mountain, called those whom he wanted, and they came to him. 14 He appointed twelve whom he called apostles.[a] They were to accompany him and to be sent out by him to spread ⌞the Good News⌟. 15 They also had the authority to force demons out of people.
16 He appointed these twelve: Simon (whom Jesus named Peter), 17 James and his brother John (Zebedee’s sons whom Jesus named Boanerges, which means “Thunderbolts”), 18 Andrew, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James (son of Alphaeus), Thaddaeus, Simon the Zealot, 19 and Judas Iscariot (who later betrayed Jesus).

We should plan so well that after our departure there won't be fight among brethren or brothers over who will be the next leader but a proper documentation will be able to answer this very well.

The founder of Redeem church , He appointed the next leader before he died . He already planned for the future and there was no fight form his children who will be next leader , it was already stated and documented . Let's us learn from this and be wise .
