Many people in church see anniversary as a day to make money , raise funds for church needs but that's not true .
Biblical Anniversary is solely for giving thanks and people giving willingly to God without anyone forcing them or selling blessings to them .
I was in one Anniversary recently, and a minister came up to call out the church leader and begin to use him to raise funds.
Something like
"If you love our daddy" come out with money
Help our daddy
Our daddy needs help
Then they start saying , okay if you love him, come out with 1000 naira . So daddy too will be looking around to see who love him and who doesn't love him as if it is by money you know who love you.
These are worldly ways borrowed from Babylon that we now use in churches just to gather money .
We look for MC and his assignment is to help us raise money. The MC will be looking out for those who dress well , look rich and call them out to bill them. This is not the way of God .it may be common. It may be what people do but never the way of God.
People can give during Anniversary, but let it be willingly .Don't make it as if they are forced to do it . Don't make people vow in front of others under duress , as if they are been robbed in day light.
Our goal in Anniversary is for God to be glorified and people give willingly their substance not by forcing it out of their hand or threatening them to give .
May God give us understanding
