🔰 Introduction

The study of Acts 1–7 draws believers back to the foundations of the Christian mission—anchored in the reality of Christ’s resurrection, the power of sound doctrine, the centrality of prayer, and the absolute necessity of the Holy Spirit’s guidance. This session unpacked how the early church grew, endured persecution, and stayed focused on the gospel despite cultural and political resistance. The aim was to remind the church today that ministry fruitfulness depends not on human innovation, but on alignment with these apostolic patterns.

📖 Teaching Highlights

1. Resurrection: The Unshakable Core of the Gospel

The resurrection is the proof of Jesus’ divinity and the foundation of Christian faith.

For 40 days after rising, Jesus appeared to the apostles, strengthening their conviction and commissioning them.

Without the resurrection, all preaching and ministry lose their meaning (Acts 1:2; OT prophecies fulfilled).

2. Doctrine & Prayer Above All Else

The early church devoted itself to sound teaching and prayer, resisting the pull toward distractions or superficial ministry.

Acts 6:4 highlights that apostles prioritized the Word and prayer, delegating administrative tasks to qualified Spirit-filled leaders.

Leadership selection was based on spiritual maturity, not popularity, wealth, or influence.

True ordination was marked by prayer, fasting, and laying on of hands, not financial campaigns.

3. The Holy Spirit: The Power Behind Ministry

The Holy Spirit, not human charisma, enabled the apostles to witness boldly and accurately.

John 16:12–15 shows the Spirit’s role in glorifying Jesus, not drawing attention to men.

Ministry without the Spirit leads to burnout, compromise, or self-promotion.

4. Witnessing: Keeping Jesus Central

The apostles’ core message was Jesus—crucified, risen, and Lord of all.

Miracles served as signs pointing to Him, not ends in themselves.

Even in persecution, they refused to dilute or shift their message.

5. Spiritual Joy vs. Worldly Happiness

Joy comes from God’s presence and purpose, not from possessions or recognition.

Early believers shared generously, ensuring no one was left in need, living as a true spiritual family.

6. Guarding Against False Doctrine

Acts 5 (Ananias & Sapphira) warns against hypocrisy—God disciplines to protect His church.

Teachers are called to remain Scripture-focused, avoiding personal philosophy or trend-driven teaching.

📌 Takeaway

The Acts church was marked by resurrection power, doctrinal purity, unceasing prayer, Spirit-led boldness, and unwavering focus on Jesus. These are not just history lessons—they are blueprints for present-day ministry. The same Spirit who empowered the apostles is available to us, but only if we walk in truth, prayer, and full surrender.
