THE FIRST FRUIT IS NOT YOUR JANUARY INCOME/SALARY
A Sister asked me if she can send her January salary to her church as first fruit? I told her YES! she can send her whole salary if she decide to do so .
I didn't stop there , I told her she should not give under pressure to impress her pastor or give by force or fear of not giving her whole salary.
The basis for Christians giving is Love and must be willingly with joy in heart not by force or with any fear in your heart.
The modern practice of giving the first month's salary or business profit to a church is not correct based on scripture.
Biblically, "first fruits" referred to the literal first produce (crops, livestock) of the land, symbolizing the best for God, not income/salary.
I believe it's a manipulation to generate funds, the New Testament reinterprets first fruit as Christ (1 Corinthians 15:20) or the first believers, emphasizing symbolic gratitude and putting God first, not financial obligation.
Biblical Context of First Fruits:
Literal Produce: In the Old Testament (Exodus 23:19), it was the first, best portion of harvested crops or newborn animals given to the priests and Levites.
Symbolic of Christ: The New Testament shifts the meaning, with Jesus as the "first fruits of the dead" (1 Corinthians 15:20), signifying resurrection and the first spiritual harvest of believers.
Biblical way for Christian Giving :
Each one of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give. You should not give if it makes you unhappy or if you feel forced to give.
