Jesus never tell us to fast for 40 days

None of the Apostles fast for 40 days 

It's a tradition Not a doctrine

Yet, a good tradition.

It doesn't matter if you fast from Ash Wednesday to Easter Sunday or You don't fast throughout the period. It's not a sin. It's beneficial but not compulsory.

If your church includes Sunday to the fasting, that's fine. It doesnt make those who don't fast on Sunday a sinner or less Saint than you. And you're Not wrong if you include Sunday to the fast and yours end on Psalm Sunday, it's also good .

Lent is Men tradition NOT God commandment. Jesus didnt tell us to fast 40 days like him. I hope you know Jesus didn't plan to fast for 40days? He was led by Holy Spirit into the wilderness and was tempted for 40 days and because of the temptation, he didn't eat throughout the whole 40 days .

Many churches have time of ORI OKE MAJEMU where the whole church fast for seven days or 14 days or one month, that's also good. If you don't fast a day in Lent , it's fine since you already do your church fasting and if you can do the whole 40 days fasting, or more , it's a good choice .

Don't just make your own fasting or your church fasting to be the general standard of fasting. Any fasting needs to be directed by Holy spirit Not done as a tradition or a yearly routine activities.

Finally, for those who feel that Apostle is changing the fathers heritage. So your Heritage is Lent ? You better open bible to read about the heritage in Christ Jesus which includes "Righteousness, Salvation, Sanctification, and so on" may God give you understanding.
