A masquerader at Obun-Eko, Lagos sent a message to Orimolade not to come and preach at Obun-Eko. Orimolade sent back to him and gave him the date that he would be there to preach.
On the faithful day, the masquerader was fully armed with his charm. Orimolade with his entourage approached the man-reciting psalms 24 and 91 – but as the masquerade saw Orimolade approaching, he (the masquerader) collapsed and died. On that day, the popular C&S. song descended

What's the mystery behind Psalm 24? Why do C & S church recite Psalm 24 in prayer? Here is what I will explain in details today.
PSALMS ARE SONGS OF WORSHIP, PRAISE AND LAMENT- HYMNS TAKEN FROM PSALMS
Psalm 24 is a hymn of exaltation that directs the hearts of His people to worship God in a manner that acknowledges His glory as Creator, Holy and King.
This Psalm has also been labeled an entrance Psalm written by David. The possible events surrounding this Psalm may have been an anniversary of when the ark of the covenant, which represented God’s presence, was entering Jerusalem in 2 Samuel 6 or truly a Psalm celebrating the Lord’s Kingship in relation to His People.
As the ark approaches Jerusalem, David sings Psalm 24 and teaches the people to sing this Psalm. It is a Psalm which welcomes God into His own city! It is a Psalm which looks much farther into the future and welcomes Jesus Christ into the heavens at the time of His Ascension! It is Messianic! L
A TRILOGY
Psalms 22, 23 and 24 form a trilogy. These psalms, as well as many others, are all about the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Psalm 22 speaks about Christ as the Sufferer, Psalm 23 as the Shepherd, and Psalm 24 as the Sovereign.
Psalm 22 speaks about His Past Ministry when, as the Good Shepherd He suffered, bled and died for the sins of His people. Psalm 23 speaks about Him in His Present Ministry as the Great Shepherd caring for those who are the sheep of His flock. Psalm 24 reveals Him as the Chief Shepherd (1 Peter 5:4) and His Future Ministry to take the throne of world dominion and rule and reign in His millennial kingdom.
PSALM 24 IS ALL ABOUT THE KING OF KINGS
Announcing the King (Psalm 24:1-2),
Approaching the King (Psalm 24: 3-6),
Acknowledging the King (Psalm 24: 7-10).
ANNOUNCING THE KING (24:1-2)
The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof, the world and those who dwell therein, for he has founded it upon the seas and established it upon the rivers.
God is Creator (verse 2) entails that God rules over all (verse 1—His title as “King” appears later); the Creator is creation’s rightful ruler. The Lord owns it all. He creates the cosmos, so the cosmos belongs to him.
David speaks of the whole earth belonging to the Lord, to Yahweh. Not just part of the earth, not just some of the non-human inhabitants or human inhabitants. No, all of it. The whole earth belongs to Him. But why is that?
God is not a contractor he did not just build for the owner of the materials, HE is the owner, as the creator and King. To create is to own, and to own is to have dominion over. In other words, God is large and in charge. God is seen having dominion and power over creation. He did not have to defeat any rival, he merely spoke - Is. 43:18 says “I am the Lord there is no other!”
This Psalm has just become very relevant to us as it speaks to whom we belong. The Lord is the King of creation. From this cosmic scale, David moves to a question…. Who can approach the Lord? What will allow one to approach Him? (Read v. 3), comes to the second point.
APPROACHING THE KING (24:3-6)
v 3-6 - The question asked is a reflective one. “Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord?” (3). If the Lord is the creator God who owns everything, who are we as human beings to approach his holy hill to worship him?
Verse 4, shows us that we come to God on His terms and His character, and those who worship Him are ok with that. When we seek the God who is pure we will aim to live in purity, when we seek the God who is true and whose word proves true, we will aim to live in integrity.
CLEAN HANDS means Righteous Behaviour
PURE HEART means Righteous Motives .
We must not be like the Pharisees whom Jesus called white washed tombs who were rotting on the inside. A true worshiper is pure in heart. A true worshiper, one who ascends up the holy hill and who stands in the holy place of God is one who loves purity and truth.
His worshippers seek His face and know His grace (v. 6) These are the receivers of Gods blessing, the Psalmist says this is the group of people with whom God is pleased, they walk with integrity, they have an internal desire to please him, not for appearance sake.
What does it mean to “seek him”? To seek God is an expression of sincere desire to live in accordance to God’s standards, so as to live in the presence of his “face”.
Continuing on in this procession we have had the announcement of the king our creator, we’ve heard about who can approach the King who is holy, but before v. 7 there is a the word “selah” indicating a pause in the song… to allow the weight of what was said sink in, and to prepare for what is coming… in our Psalm 24, what is coming is the 3rd insight, the Acknowledgment of the King of Glory…
ACKNOWLEDGING THE KING (24:7-10)
The question: “Who is this king of glory?.
The answer: “The Lord, strong and mighty, the Lord , mighty in battle!”
The King of glory comes. He is strong and ready to win the battle and achieve victory. The King of glory has come. The creator of the universe entered into his world in the person of Jesus Christ. He comes fit for battle as the strong and mighty warrior. Yet, he first came not to overcome political powers, but to overcome our spiritual foe. Jesus comes to defeat the kingdom of darkness and the enslaving condemnation of our sin by his death on the cross. Yet, on the third day the gate was be open. The stone was rolled back and the resurrected King of glory came into his victory.
The resurrected Christ eventually ascended into heaven. The gates were opened and he return to his glorious place at the right hand of the Father. Yet, as we wait for his return, we know that the gates will one day be opened again. They will be lifted and the King of glory will return clothed in power to establish his Kingdom on the earth he owns. The earth is his and its inhabitants. And on that day when Jesus establishes his kingdom, those who are saved and made righteous by faith will ascend the hill of the Lord and stand in his holy place. The gates will be opened that the King of glory may come in. “Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, he is the King of glory!”
The words of Psalm 24 may then be seen as a welcome greeting to the Christ as He ascends into heaven. This has never happened before. But, heaven is also not complete if He is not there. Lift up the gates and the doors and let this conquering King come into His throne-room! He comes with clean hands. He comes with pure heart. He has not sworn deceitfully.
He is worthy to enter this place. He has been so humiliated in the past. He took on Himself the form of a servant, though He was the Son! He suffered lifelong here on earth. He was maligned. He was crucified. He was killed. He was buried. But, the time of humiliation is past! He rose from the dead! He did not rise to be a spectacle here on this earth where everything is mortal. No, He rose so that He might ascend to where He was before. He is now equipped to ascend. His work here on earth is finished and there is a great deal of work to be done above. He goes to prepare a place for His people. He goes to intercede for His people. He goes to send the Spirit of God upon His people. He goes to rule all things unto their destined end. The ascension is of great importance to His people.
